At 25:42, Mr. Fryette makes a statement about replacing filter caps. At 26:08, he begins looking at the blue, aftermarket capacitor for the preamp decoupling stage, mounted to the side of the chassis. The schematics and layout provided by Mark Huss say the two sides of the cap should be rated at 32uF and 16uF (450V). His meter shows the cap measuring at 34uF and 15uF and he declares it to be way out of tolerance because he is expecting it to be 32uF and 32uF. It's a simple mistake to make for an unrehearsed video. The problem is that the "error" (not the cap's issue) gets used to reinforce the idea that vintage caps within tolerance are more reliable than new caps, which is not demonstrated here. What happens to the cap? Does he try to replace this cap that he thinks is outside tolerance?

Looks like I’m circling back to this almost a year later haha… question: if connecting the Power Station to use as a Wet/Dry/Wet rig - there anyway to mute the dry cab, but still allow the line out to still be active? I want the ability to switch between W/D/W to only using the wet amps in stereo. If possible… I understand if I want to go from W/D/W to only Dry, I can put a stereo volume pedal in front of all my Wet pedals.

I was a bench Tech for 30 years or so and your knowledge is extensive and impressive. That pic of how the looms were made up -I didn't even know that. On the subject of guitarists 'gloming' onto turret board point to point wiring do you think it's baloney or are the modern PCB equivalents as good or better? I'm mindful of a lesson I once had about lead dressing and wondered whether closer PCB tracks would have greater stray capacitance and hence poorer overall amp performance as a consequence? Kind thanks For your wonderful channel. I'm almost tempted to return to the bench. What a fine Engineer you are.

Can some please tell me if im running mono /bridge on my LXii amplifier on channel A is the output still coming out of channel A and B or is it just A? Im wanting to run my synergy preamp mono into my lxii and then i need just one output to go into my palmer pdi 03. So can i go out of the use first conection on channel A? If i cant do that can i go into channel B and then out of the use first output on channel B? And if i can do it that way do i leave channel A in bypass. I have emailed twice and have never revieved an auto reply and i also called.

Anyone know if this squealing thing is an issue with the new Friedman Plex? I've been considering buying a power station because i need an effects loop and the attenuation would be nice too. The master control volume works pretty good but probably not as good as an attenuator. I'd like to hear how it sounds turning the volume up past 3 without blowing my eardrums out lol

Doesn't this create a sound loop ? i mean what goes in amp in normally goes to amp in goes to speaker out , but if the speaker out goes back to amp in, that must create a "loop" ...?

36:01 This is absolutely wonderful!! But now im sad cause I miss my 76 head DR 100 & 70 cab. Always thought by down sizing to ampeg, Trainor, badcat, matchles & searched hard to find the harmony 410 circuit that i was told by another friend of mine that was also a hiwat lover. He downsized first and i followed through cause of weight and space. But obviously never got that tone again & its proven on my records the hiwat totally has that unique frequency, vibration of the lusting soul!! This is great. But I don't use or like strats but had a rule all my buddies were welcome to ride the hiwatt train as long as they didn't play strats cause i didn't find pleasant. Thanks guys for chering this with us HIWATT heads. 🎉

What was the brand of that blue cap? Many companies use that blue color. Even F&T has dual can caps in that color. But I can't believe that F&T would die in 5 years. I use them in most of my amplifiers and I haven't seen any issues yet. They measure at or above the given value. ESR is always good. Though last batch of 50 + 50 500V I got sections are more apart then before. One side has higher capacitance and better ESR than the other. Still way in the tolerance and at positive side. But old batch was having more alike values. One cap would be better than others in the old batch but they were all above stated values. 32 + 32 were very similar between sections and between each other. Their single caps were even more consistent for me.

Few years ago there was a Marshall PA head for reasonable price in the music store in the other city. It looked very similar to that one. I was like score, if it has proper irons it’s a gold. Plus so many channels that must mean lot of preamp tubes and other goodies. Then I saw inside pictures and that was it. Disaster. Plus no way near what I thought it will be. Way less parts and modified and worked on. Looked very sad and I just decided not to get it. Something cheaper than it should be is often just almost junk. It’s nice t easy to get those good deals.
